Take a moment to step outside and enjoy the winter stars over Acadia. Orion the hunter is one of the easiest constellations to find. Three stars in a row make up Orion's belt, the two stars above and below his belt are his arms and his legs. Taurus the bull can be found just above and to the northern sky as a big "M".
If by chance the northern sky begins to shimmer with strange pulsating lights of red, green or white, you're in for a winter treat Acadia is far enough north to see the northern lights. They are electrical in nature and center around the earth's magnetic poles. They are caused by flares near sunspots that release charged particles. The display is a spectacular light show!
